To help students succeed
To help students succeed
Visions offers a variety of support services to help our students succeed. From enrichment activities and mentoring to community college coursework and social services, we ensure our students have access to many opportunities that not only strengthen their personalized learning experience, but improve their interpersonal and technological skills, too.
Visions proudly offers the following services and opportunities:
– College Visits, our Visions counselors inform students about upcoming college tours, and accompany them to provide support.
– Counseling Services are available to all students, including financial aid workshops; online academic support; college and career guidance; and college application assistance.
We support student success by creating higher education opportunities through local community colleges in the counties we serve. We provide access to community college courses for qualified students through our Advanced Education Program and our Dual Enrollment Program, where students can take core courses, electives or technical education courses. For many of our students, we also help cover the costs of these classes (registration and textbooks) while enrolled.
Healthcare is currently one of the fastest growing career sectors in California and the nation. The Career Technical Education (CTE) Medical Careers Pathway is a three-course pathway designed for Independent Study and University Prep students who intend to enter the healthcare career field. The curriculum focuses on foundational knowledge and skills needed to be successful in any career involving healthcare. This partnership with Folsom Lake College also includes guest speakers, job shadowing, and internship opportunities. Learn more.
Visions offers high school students the opportunity to pursue a career in the fast-growing automotive industry at American River College. As new makes and models continue to hit the market, so does the need for qualified technicians to maintain these new systems. Our students are prepared for entry-level employment opportunities as an automotive technician at dealerships, independent automotive shops, service centers, fleet maintenance departments and more. Learn more about this partnership here.
Visions offers social services and additional support for students and families in need. Through Referral Services, Visions can refer students to local support services and counseling options. Student Outreach removes barriers to education so that a student may be successful. This internal program provides focused services to students seeking support or needing interventions for academics, behavior or attendance, often due to deeper concerns related to substance abuse, mental health or social issues. Student Outreach is a process – not a curriculum or treatment center – that connects programs and services within and across the school and community to create a network of support to encourage student success.
Success Through Education Mentoring (S.T.E.M) is a partnership between the University of California, Davis and Visions In Education. Visions students meet one-on-one with UC Davis student mentors to receive support and valuable information about college life and success. The program recruits UC Davis undergraduates from a variety of majors and high school students who are committed to this year-long program. College mentors are a wonderful resource for high school students and participants in our program can look forward to building lifelong friendships. The mentors and Visions high school students meet monthly to foster professional development, confidence, leadership and determination.
Visions is working to establish healthcare internship opportunities for our high school students! Information will be posted here when it becomes available.
